Some things are difficult to explain. A scent that stops you in your tracks. A bottle so beautiful it belongs on a shelf like a piece of art. The feeling that a fragrance was made not for the masses, but somehow, inexplicably, for you.
Wild Iris was born from that feeling.
Our Story
We opened our doors in Brighton because we believed the world of niche fragrance deserved to — less intimidating and accessible. Niche perfumery can feel like a closed club, not knowing the language or what to say. We wanted something different: a place where curiosity is celebrated, where you're encouraged to explore, and where every visit feels a little like wandering into a welcoming space where no questions or answers are wrong.
Because that's what a great fragrance collection is — an exhibition. Each bottle a work of art. Each scent a story told in top notes and dry-downs, in memory and imagination. As an ex art curator i feel strongly tat perfume is an art work in a bottle and should be accessible to everyone.
What We Carry
Our shelves hold over 200 fragrances from some of the most exciting independent perfumers working today — Nissaba, ERIS, Fugazzi, Ode Ona, Zoologist and many more. These are small-batch, artisanal creations made by people who care deeply about their craft: where ingredients come from, how they're harvested, what they mean.
Nissaba, for example, sources wild-harvested botanicals directly from Paraguay. ERIS challenges convention with fragrances that are bold, literary, and unapologetically themselves. Zoologist makes scent that is playful and precise in equal measure. Every brand we carry has been chosen because it moves us — because it has something genuinely worth saying.
Our Sourcing Philosophy
We work directly with independent perfumers. Not because it's easier — it isn't — but because it matters. Direct relationships mean we understand the story behind every bottle. It means we can share that story with you. And it means the people who pour their creativity into these fragrances are properly supported.
We are drawn to makers who take ethics seriously: sustainable sourcing, fair relationships with growers and harvesters, transparency about ingredients. Beauty, we believe, should not come at someone else's expense.
The Team
Wild Iris is a small team with a big passion. Kate leads our in-store experience, bringing warmth, knowledge, and an infectious enthusiasm for finding the right scent for the right person. We are perfume lovers first, retailers second — and that shapes everything we do. Dom is in store sometimes and can be found working away making sure the shop run smoothly.
